Defeated by the Lowly Blues
I call in an ok performance by the Jackets. But we still lose to the lowly Blues 2-0.
It took Fedorov over 12 hours to get here, and didn't get much rest. But yet he played, not having ever played with Vborny or Zherdev. Once he gets play with them more, look out.
Denis gave us one of his games, loose it in the last minutes. Almost as if he has become too predicatable. In this case, down to early
Despite the hype, or maybe because of it, the Blues came out more motivated. Their goalie, Curtis Sanford, who I had never heard of before tonight, was right on, and had some incredible saves, and defense. His D took a few pucks for him.
Blue Jackets outshot the Blues 36 to 16
Why couldnt Denis have been put on waivers?

Federov was a good pick up, to be sure, but there are some questions that come with it: 1 - Can he return to championship form? 2 - Was it really the pick up we needed? I hope so, because the BJs are desperately lacking in offense. It's almost as if we're cursed. We seem to have some games where we have a great number of shots on goal, but the netminders we're facing just aren't letting us in. On top of that, how long is Federov here for? How much longer does he have in the league? At 35, he is one of two of the "Russian Five" that are still active in the NHL (Koslov in Atlanta being the other), and it was more than 10 years ago that they were a threat in the NHL. Federov's stint in Anaheim could be forgotten. WhAT WE NEED IS A GOALTENDER! Either we go find a good one, or we try building some of the one's we have up. Prusek can play, he's shown that. Leclaire isn't bad either, but he's gonna have to take his bumps before he improves. He'll never conform to the NHL if we let him play 2 games and send him back to the minors for 3 months, only to recall him for 2 more games. The BJs are hardly better than the worst team in the league, which incidentally, just shut us out. 10 points is all the Jackets have mustered so far this season. P-a-t-h-e-t-i-c. On a side note, we need some other players to step up and play smart. Nash's injury was the result of hard play, no fault there. Klesla's broken hand was not necessary...since the game had ended, we had won, and the fight was pretty lame as well. Marchant's been sort of a disappointment, but he's been "on" these last few games - I could think of other players I'd rather ditch than him...at least right now. No offense to Shelley, he's a brusier, but he's not all that impressive on the ice. Richardson is showing his age, and Malhotra needs to get into the net as well. That's all for now. I'm sure to rant more later.
That first comment wasn't supposed to be anonymous, should have been authored by Fab G...not sure what happened.
Can he return to championship form? I doubt it. I think his main contribution to this team will be as a mentor to Zherdev.
I agree with you on the goalies, obviously. As for Leclair, I feel he was the best goalie in camp and in the preseason. He feel he can be an exclellent goalie in the NHL, but he needs the chance, and this calling him up for 2 or 3 games isnt giving him the experience he needs.
